If you’re building electronic devices that require you to connect the output or input leads on a board to a cable, you may have come across SMA or Type N connectors. These connectors are significant by having to join various parts of the apparatus. Today in the Ham Shack, we will show you how to switch SMA connectors to Type N connectors. Take note, because we are about to tell you everything you need to know about this process.
Yes, there are some similarities between sma connectors and adapter type n, but these are two different connectors. Also, LINKWORLD SMA type of connectors are smaller and can be used in dense spaces. Type N You'll find that the Type N connector is a bit bigger and can support more power. If you are going to convert your SMA connectors to Type N you will need some tools. These are coax cable, wire cutters and the Type N connector itself. With a few simple steps, you can convert your connectors from SMA to Type N.
Now you'll have both the center core wire and the braided wire visible. Attach the core wire to the centre pin of the type n connector and the braid wire to the outside of the connector.
After connecting the wires, screw the LINKWORLD Type N connector on to the device you’re using. You want the connection to be snug so you don't get a loss of signal.
Upgrading from SMA to Type N connectors provides significant advantages. N type connectors are stronger and last longer than others. They also offer better signal quality, are more rugged and reliable than SMA connectors. Upgrade your electronics and get better connection.
Before you go out and modify all those LINKWORLD SMA connectors to Type N, be sure that everything is compatible. As always, ensure the Type N connector you’re using is compatible with the device you’re plugging it into. Also, ensure the coaxial cable is compatible with SMA and type n plug connectors. Screen compatibility is something you can check and eliminate problems ahead of time.
